Urban ICT Arena

Urban ICT Arena is an open co-creation arena and testbed in Kista where the possibilities of digitalization are developed, tested and showcased. The arena consists of extensive and diversified IT-infrastructure, display window, meeting arena, project place and various projects and project participants.

What makes the Urban ICT Arena unique is its extensive IT infrastructure comprising several different types of wired and wireless components (including 5G networks, dark fiber, etc.) the unique presence of community stakeholders from industry, academia and the public sector, which are individually and jointly involved in horizontal development. Its consistent transparency, diversity and accessibility in an urban environment are additional factors that defines Urban ICT Arena.

The overall purpose with Urban ICT Arena is to futureproof Sweden by using the projects pursued within UICTA to help develop tomorrow’s sustainable cities, boost innovation and secure jobs for the future. The initiative will strengthen Kista’s reputation as a cluster for the development and demonstration of innovative solutions that benefit society.


Founding Partners are Ericsson, IBM, Royal School of Technology, Stockholm University, Swedish ICT, the City of Stockholm and the County Government of Stockholm.
