Swedish ICT Research AB (to be changed to RISE ICT AB) is owned by the Swedish government through RISE AB.
RISE Research Institutes of Sweden is a network of research and technology organizations that in global co-operation with academia, enterprise and society creates value, growth and competitiveness through research excellence and innovation. RISE is a network of research and technology organizations (RTOs), wholly or partly owned by the Swedish government. The RTOs within RISE perform industrial research and innovation. RISE consists of four corporate groups: SP, Swedish ICT, Swerea and Innventia.
In 2015, the RISE RTOs had altogether 2492 employees and a total turnover of 3 121 million Swedish kronor.
The state’s owner
RISE AB is the Swedish government’s company for ownership of the RTOs of RISE. RISE AB’s task is to gather, develop and renew the RTOs of RISE into an internationally competitive and efficient Swedish force for industrial research and innovation.
RISE AB was originally founded in 1997 under the name Ireco Holding AB by the Swedish Ministry of Enterprise, Energy and Communications and the government agency The Knowledge Foundation. The company became wholly government-owned in 2007. In 2009, the company changed its name to RISE Research Institutes of Sweden and received an expanded mandate and significantly increased resources.
